- France’s October jobless rate stayed stable at 9.9 percent, showing no change from either the previous quarter or the same month in 2003, according to preliminary figures. “Bolstered by a rise in industrial output and healthier consumption, France’s GDP could increase by 0.6 percent in Q4, bringing growth for 2004 as a whole to 2.1 percent –– the best performance since 2000,” said the INSEE, France’s National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies in its December 2004 economic analysis report.
- Germany’s jobless rate for November increased to 10.3 percent, which was a 0.2 percent gain on October 2004 anda 0.3 percent gain on November 2003.
- The United Kingdom’s unemployment rate for the third quarter decreased by 0.1 percent compared to the previous quarter and dropped 0.3 percent compared to the same quarter in 2003, according to preliminary data from the United Kingdom Office of National Statistics.
