- France’s fourth-quarter GDP grew 0.6 percent compared to the previous quarter and 2.0 percent for the year. The country’s December unemployment rate decreased 0.1 percent to 8.6 percent, a 1-percent drop from December 2005.
- Germany’s fourth quarter economy grew 0.8 percent from Q3 and increased 3.7 percent on an annual basis. Its January unemployment rate increased 0.6 percent from the previous month to 10.2 percent, 1.9 percent lower than the rate in January 2006.
- The UK’s jobless rate for the fourth quarter fell 5.5 percent, a 0.1-percent drop from the third quarter. The rate was 0.4-percent higher than the same period in 2005.
