- Brazil’s Q4 GDP rose 1.1 percent compared to Q3 and increased 3.8 percent on an annual basis. The Brazilian government attributed the increase to the agricultural, industrial, and service sectors, as well as a4.4-percent jump in product taxes.
- Canada’s March jobless rate remained unchanged from the previous month at 6.1 percent, but dropped 0.2 percent compared to the same month in 2006. Women over age 25 gained most of the jobs, while growth in the service sector offset weakness in the goods-producing sector. And, British Columbia posted a recordlow unemployment rate for the third month in a row.
