Foreign currency futures trading at the ChicagoMercantile Exchange (CME) increased 65 percent last year compared to 2004, according to the Merc’s year end records. Average daily volume topped 334,000 contracts in 2005.

Forex was the exchange’s most robust sector in the fourth quarter of 2005, with average daily volume of 375,000 contracts overall and a record 428,000 per day in December.
